Voici ce que déclare le Seigneur: Ce chapitre présente le retour des déportés comme un nouvel Exode hors d'Égypte. Autrefois, Dieu a sauvé Israël de la servitude et de la domination égyptienne. Il l'a guidé dans le désert jusqu'à la terre promise aux ancêtres. Demain, il rassemblera son peuple, le délivrera, le bénira et le ramènera vers la terre promise qui regorge de bénédictions. Ce retour sera le fait de la seule bienveillance du Seigneur. Ce jour là, le peuple connaîtra l'abondance. Les sacrifices d'animaux gras constituent un exemple de cette prospérité retrouvée. On lit dans le livre d'Ésaïe: « Le Seigneur de l'univers offrira à tous les peuples un banquet de viandes grasses arrosé de vins fins » (És 25.6). « Dans le désert j'ai montré ma faveur au peuple qui avait échappé au massacre. Israël va donc pouvoir vivre tranquille.
