Avant de mourir, Moïse, l'homme de Dieu, prononça sur les Israélites les bénédictions que voici: D'autres grands personnages de l'Ancien Testament ont été amenés à faire leurs adieux (Jacob en Gen 49 et David en 2 Sam 23.1-7 et 1 Rois 2.1-9).
