Ezekiel 20:13
Amharic (Tigrigna: Contemporary Tigrinya Bible 2024)
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, God is speaking and says that the Israelites disobeyed Him in the wilderness by not following His laws and not respecting the Sabbath. Because of this, God considered punishing them severely. The key message is that obedience and respect are important to God.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a favorite toy, and your parents tell you to take care of it. But you keep breaking the rules and don't take care of it. Your parents might get really upset and think about taking the toy away. That's kind of what happened with God and the Israelites. They didn't listen to God's rules, and He got very upset with them.
Historical Background
Ezekiel wrote this during the Babylonian exile in the 6th century BCE. The Israelites were in the wilderness after being freed from Egypt, and God is reminding them of their past disobedience. This was a time when many Israelites were struggling to stay faithful to God.
Living It Out Today
Imagine a team at work where everyone is supposed to follow certain rules to succeed, but some members constantly break these rules. This can lead to the manager considering severe actions to maintain the team's effectiveness. Similarly, we must follow the rules set for us to succeed and avoid negative consequences.
