Revelation 10:8
Amharic New Standard Translation (አማርኛ አዲሱ መደበኛ ትርጉም) 2005
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from Revelation, a voice from heaven instructs the author to go and take a little book that an angel is holding open. The angel stands on both sea and earth, representing divine authority over all of creation.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're playing outside and hear your mom call out from the house, 'Go get me that small notebook in Johnny's hand.' Just like your mom is asking you to do something important for her, God is telling someone to take a special book from an angel who has it open.
Historical Background
Revelation was written by John towards the end of the first century AD. It was intended for Christians facing persecution in Asia Minor, and its symbolic language reflects Jewish apocalyptic traditions and Greco-Roman imperial propaganda.
Living It Out Today
Just as the voice instructed John to take an important message from the angel, we too can be called upon to deliver significant messages or information that impact others. It might be sharing a piece of advice with a friend in need or standing up for what is right at work.
