Malachi 1:7
French S21 2007 (Bible Segond 21)
What Does This Mean?
In Malachi 1:7, God is speaking to the Israelites and accusing them of offering contaminated offerings on His altar. The people are confused about what they have done wrong. They have shown disrespect by treating the Lord's table as unimportant.
Explained for Children
Imagine if you were given a special plate for your favorite meal but instead, you used it to put some old, yucky food that no one wants. That’s how God feels when people bring their worst offerings to Him. It makes Him sad and shows they don’t really care about Him.
Historical Background
Malachi wrote this message around the 430s BC to the Israelites after their return from exile in Babylon. The Israelites were offering substandard sacrifices, which was a sign of disrespect towards God's temple and His commandments.
Living It Out Today
Today, if we show up at church or any religious service without giving our best effort or treating it like a casual event, we might be doing the same thing as those Israelites. It’s important to give your best in all acts of worship.
