Explained for Children
Imagine you have a really hard game to play. Your friend, who is like a superhero, comes to help you. Because of their help, you win the game easily. That's what happened here, but with a big war instead of a game.
Historical Background
The Book of Judges was likely compiled from various sources during the monarchy period, around the 9th or 10th century BCE. It was written to remind the Israelites of God's faithfulness and their responsibility to follow His laws. The passage describes a conflict in the early settlement period after the conquest of Canaan.
Living It Out Today
Today, we can think of this verse when facing a difficult challenge at work or in school. Just like Judah had God's help, we can rely on God's strength and guidance to overcome obstacles in our lives.
