Leviticus 27:10
French NFC 2019 (Nouvelle Français Courant)
What Does This Mean?
This verse is about the rules for exchanging a sacred animal offering. If someone offers an animal to God, they can't exchange it for a better or worse animal. If they do exchange it, both animals become sacred. This is part of the laws given by God to the Israelites.
Explained for Children
Imagine you promised to give your mom a big cookie, but then you wanted to give her a small one instead. That wouldn't be nice, right? This verse says if you promise something to God, you can't change it for something better or worse. If you do change it, both things you offered become special gifts for God.
Historical Background
This verse is from the book of Leviticus, written by Moses around 1446 BC. It was written for the Israelites, who were God's chosen people. The laws in Leviticus detail how they should worship God, including rules about offerings and sacrifices.
Living It Out Today
Today, we don't offer animal sacrifices, but we can think about our promises to God. If we say we'll do something for God, we should follow through. For example, if we promise to pray every day, we shouldn't change it to praying only once a week.
