Mark 8:23
French (Zoque, Francisco León)
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from Mark's Gospel, Jesus takes a blind man by the hand and leads him out of town. He then performs an unusual act by spitting on the man's eyes and touching them, asking if he can see anything. This shows Jesus' unique approach to healing.
Explained for Children
Imagine you can't see your favorite TV show because it's too dark in your room. Your mom or dad comes in, turns on the light, and asks if you can see now. That’s kind of like what happened here. Jesus helped a man who couldn’t see by doing something special.
Historical Background
The book of Mark was written around 70 AD for Roman Christians. The author is believed to be John Mark, a follower of Paul and Peter. This miracle story would have been read in the context of early Christian communities facing challenges and seeking hope through Jesus' actions.
Living It Out Today
Sometimes we might need guidance from others to see things more clearly, whether it’s understanding life's problems or making sense of confusing situations. Like how a friend helped you find a lost item by guiding your eyes to where it was, sometimes we need someone else's help to see what we can't on our own.
