Exodus 9:17
French Jerusalem 1998
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, God is speaking to Pharaoh, asking why he continues to resist letting the Israelites go. God is pointing out Pharaoh's stubbornness and lack of respect for God's commands.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a friend who keeps refusing to share their toys even after you've asked nicely many times. God is like a parent asking why Pharaoh won't let the Israelites go home, just like how you'd ask your friend why they won't share.
Historical Background
This verse is part of the Book of Exodus, written by Moses around 1446 BC. It was directed to Pharaoh of Egypt and the Israelites, at a time when the Israelites were slaves in Egypt and God was working to free them.
Living It Out Today
Think about a time when you've had to deal with someone who was being stubborn or uncooperative. This verse reminds us that there are consequences to ignoring God's commands and that we should consider the impact of our actions on others.
