Puis les lévites Yéchoua, Cadmiel, Bani, Hachabnéya, Chérébia, Hodia, Chebania et Petahia s'écrièrent: « Debout! Remerciez le Seigneur votre Dieu, remerciez-le en tout temps! » Dans le cadre de cette liturgie, le peuple répond par une prière composée de trois parties: un rappel des bienfaits du Seigneur (v. 5b-15), le rappel de l'infidélité du peuple au long de son histoire (v. 16-30), enfin, une demande d'intercession pour le moment présent (v. 32-37).
