C'est en effet par le Christ que nous tous, Juifs et non-Juifs, nous pouvons nous présenter devant Dieu, le Père, grâce au même Saint-Esprit. Avant la venue du Christ, l'humanité était divisée. D'un côté les Juifs, connaissant Dieu, entrés dans son alliance par la circoncision; de l'autre côté le restant des humains, étrangers à l'alliance et ne connaissant pas Dieu. Par Jésus-Christ tous les humains peuvent se rejoindre pour constituer un seul peuple, celui des croyants. Par sa mort, Jésus a détruit le mur de haine qui séparait les deux parties de l'humanité. Par son enseignement, par son comportement, par sa vie offerte, il a ouvert une route pour la paix. Désormais, les croyants forment un édifice nouveau dont Jésus, comme une pierre d'angle, assure la solidité et l'unité. Dans ce temple vivant, où chacun a sa place, Dieu habite par son Esprit.
