Cette fête en l'honneur du Seigneur votre Dieu durera sept jours, dans le lieu qu'il aura choisi. Son nom lui vient de la coutume de construire, à cette occasion, des huttes de branchages, qu'on associait aux tentes dans lesquelles les Israélites avaient vécu autrefois (Lév 23.42-43).
