John 16:32
Baoule Bible 1996 (Kuo :Dele')
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, Jesus is speaking to his disciples and tells them that the time will soon come when they will scatter and leave him alone. However, he reassures them that he won't truly feel alone because God the Father will be with him.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're playing hide-and-seek with your friends, but just before hiding, everyone decides to run off in different directions and leaves you by yourself. Jesus says this is like what's going to happen to his friends, but he knows that his dad, God, will still be there to help him.
Historical Background
This verse comes from the Gospel of John, written around 90-100 AD. The book was intended for a community of early Christians, possibly in Ephesus or Syria. It reflects a time when followers of Jesus were facing challenges and needed reassurance about his presence with them.
Living It Out Today
In modern times, this verse can be applied to situations where people feel isolated or abandoned by friends or loved ones. For example, if you're going through a tough phase at work or school and your usual support system is not available, remember that there's always someone (God) who has your back.
