Matthew 8:17
Arabic Bible ERV 2009
What Does This Mean?
This verse is from Matthew and it talks about Jesus taking on the sicknesses and infirmities of people, as prophesied by Isaiah. The key message is that Jesus carries our burdens for us.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a really big backpack full of rocks, making it hard to walk. Now imagine your friend comes along and takes all those rocks out of your pack and puts them in their own bag. That's what Jesus does with our problems; He takes them on Himself so we can feel better.
Historical Background
Matthew wrote this gospel for a Jewish-Christian audience around the end of the first century AD. The quote from Isaiah is part of the Old Testament, written centuries earlier to predict the coming Messiah who would bear people's burdens.
Living It Out Today
When you're feeling overwhelmed by stress or sickness, remember that Jesus understands your pain and has taken it on Himself. This can help you find comfort and strength in difficult times.
