Mark 6:49
Arabic Bible ERV 2009
What Does This Mean?
This verse describes the disciples' reaction when they saw Jesus walking on water. They thought it was a ghost and were terrified, crying out in fear.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're playing by the lake and suddenly see someone walking on water like it's not even there! You'd think it was a spooky spirit and shout for help, right? That's what happened to Jesus' friends. They saw something amazing but were so scared they thought it was scary.
Historical Background
Mark wrote this Gospel around AD 65-70 in Rome or Palestine, directed at both Jewish and Gentile Christians. The cultural setting included a mix of Jewish beliefs about the supernatural and Greco-Roman skepticism.
Living It Out Today
When we face something unfamiliar or scary, our first reaction can be fear. But it's important to recognize that what seems like a threat might actually be an opportunity for growth or a sign of God’s presence in our lives.
