Judges 20:19
Arabic Bible ERV 2009
What Does This Mean?
This verse tells us that the Israelites got up early the next morning and positioned themselves to attack the city of Gibeah. No one is speaking in this verse, but it shows the Israelites' determination to confront the people of Gibeah over a serious offense.
Explained for Children
Imagine you and your friends are playing a game, and another kid does something really mean. The next day, you and your friends get up early to talk to that kid and make things right. That's kind of what the Israelites did, but it was a much more serious situation.
Historical Background
The Book of Judges was written by various authors, possibly including Samuel, after the period of the judges around 1000 BCE. The audience was the Israelites, and the cultural setting was one of tribal warfare and moral decay, with occasional divine intervention.
Living It Out Today
In a modern context, this verse can remind us of the importance of taking decisive action when faced with wrongdoing. For instance, if you see a colleague欺负同事,你应该勇敢地站出来,向管理层报告情况,而不是袖手旁观。
