John 17:13
Arabic Bible ERV 2009
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from the Gospel of John, Jesus is speaking to God and saying that he wants his followers to experience the same joy he has. He speaks these words while still in the world.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a really cool toy that makes you super happy every time you play with it. Now, Jesus had something like that - but much bigger! He wanted all of his friends to feel as happy as he was about knowing God and loving others.
Historical Background
John wrote this gospel around 90-100 AD for a primarily Greek-speaking audience in Asia Minor. The cultural setting was one where Hellenistic philosophy influenced the way people thought about spirituality and knowledge.
Living It Out Today
Consider how you share your joys with friends or family. Just like Jesus wanted his disciples to feel his joy, think of ways you can spread happiness by sharing what brings you joy in life.
