Arabic Bible ERV 2009
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, the Israelites gathered twice as much manna on the sixth day compared to other days. The rulers of the community informed Moses about this unusual collection. The verse highlights the preparation for rest on the Sabbath.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're packing lunch for a picnic, but you know you can't bring food on the last day of the picnic. So, on the day before, you pack extra food. That's what the Israelites did with their manna - they gathered extra on the day before their rest day.
Historical Background
Exodus was written by Moses around 1440 BC. The audience was the Israelites who were wandering in the wilderness after escaping from Egypt. The cultural setting involved a nomadic people dependent on divine provision and guidance.
Living It Out Today
This verse teaches us to be prepared for times of rest and to trust in God's provision. For instance, if you know you have a day off, make sure you're organized to enjoy it without worrying about daily tasks.
