Mark 13:4
Arabic Bible AVDDV 1999 (الكتاب المقدس (تخفيف تشكيل))
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from Mark 13, the disciples are asking Jesus two questions: when will these things happen and what sign will indicate that all of these events will come to pass? The 'things' they refer to are the destruction of the temple and other significant end-times events.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're playing a game where your friend tells you something big is going to happen. You ask, 'When?' and 'How do we know when it's about to start?' That's what Jesus' friends were asking him about some important things he talked about before.
Historical Background
The Gospel of Mark was written around the year AD 65-70 by John Mark, a companion of Peter. This passage is part of a discourse in which Jesus predicts the destruction of the temple and warns his disciples about future events leading up to his return. The audience would have been early Christians living under Roman rule.
Living It Out Today
Today, this verse can remind us to stay vigilant and be prepared for unexpected changes or challenges. For example, if you're planning an important event but uncertain of the outcome due to unforeseen circumstances, it's wise to prepare and look for signs that might indicate how things will unfold.
