Galatians 4:14
Arabic APD 2024 (كِتاب العَهد الجَّديد مِن الكِتاب المُقَدَّس)
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, Paul is reminding the Galatians of a time when he was sick and they welcomed him with love and kindness, even though his condition might have been tempting to avoid. He compares their reception of him to how one would receive an angel or Christ himself.
Explained for Children
Imagine if your best friend came over to play but had a really bad cold that day. Most kids might not want to be around them because they don't feel good, but Paul is saying the Galatians were like super nice friends who still loved him and welcomed him even when he wasn’t feeling well.
Historical Background
This verse comes from Paul's letter to the Galatian churches, written around AD 49-56. The audience was composed of Gentile converts who had been influenced by Judaizers advocating for circumcision and adherence to Mosaic law. At that time, there were cultural norms against touching those with certain illnesses.
Living It Out Today
Think about a friend going through a tough time due to illness or personal struggles. This verse encourages us to show love and acceptance to them, just as we would if they were feeling their best. We can apply this by actively reaching out and supporting those in need without judgment.
