وَلمَّا رَأى بَنُو إسْرَائِيلَ السَّاكِنُونَ عَلَى الجَانِبِ الآخَرِ مِنَ الوَادي وَفِي شَرْقِ نهْرِ الأُرْدُنِّ جَيْشَ إسْرَائِيلَ يَفِرُّ، وَأنَّ شَاوُلَ وَبَنِيهِ قَتلَى، تَرَكُوا مُدُنَهُمْ وَهَرَبُوا، فَجَاءَ الفِلِسْطِيُّونَ وَاحْتَلُّوا مُدُنَهُمْ وَسَكنُوهَا.
