John 14:11
Arabic 1978 (APD) (Kitaab al Vahd aj Jadid 1978)
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from John's Gospel, Jesus is speaking to his disciples and says that they should believe in him because he is one with God the Father, just as the Father is one with him. He also suggests that people can trust in him based on the miracles and good works he has done.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a best friend who's always there for you, like your shadow following you wherever you go. Jesus is saying that he and God are as close as that. And just like how you know your friend by the nice things they do for others, you can also see God through all the good things Jesus does.
Historical Background
The Gospel of John was written around 90-100 AD by an anonymous author traditionally identified as the Apostle John. It is believed that this verse is part of a discourse Jesus had with his disciples just before his crucifixion, meant to reassure and guide them.
Living It Out Today
Consider a scenario where you are trying to convince someone about the credibility of your mentor or coach who has helped you grow significantly. Just as Jesus pointed to his works to build trust in himself, you might show examples of how this person's guidance has positively impacted your life.
