Numbers 34:15
Amharic Bible (መጽሐፍ ቅዱስ (የብሉይና የሐዲስ ኪዳን መጻሕፍት))
What Does This Mean?
This verse tells us that two and a half tribes of Israel have already received their land inheritance on the eastern side of the Jordan River, near Jericho, facing towards the sunrise. The speaker is not specified, but it's part of the instructions given by Moses for dividing the land of Canaan among the tribes.
Explained for Children
Imagine you and your friends are sharing a big chocolate cake. Some of your friends got their pieces of the cake from the side of the table where the sun comes up in the morning. That's what happened to two and a half groups of people from Israel, who got their land on one side of a river called Jordan.
Historical Background
This part of the Book of Numbers was written by Moses around 1400 BC. It was intended for the Israelites who were about to enter the Promised Land, to give them direction on how the land would be divided among the tribes. The cultural setting was the transition from the wilderness to settled life in Canaan.
Living It Out Today
Think about when you decide to divide a space among friends or family, like organizing a shared office or a room. Just as the tribes had to agree on how to share their land, we also need to communicate and cooperate to fairly distribute resources and spaces.
