John 16:12
Amharic Bible (መጽሐፍ ቅዱስ (የብሉይና የሐዲስ ኪዳን መጻሕፍት))
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from John's Gospel, Jesus is speaking to his disciples and tells them that he has more teachings for them but they are not ready to understand these teachings yet. This shows the depth of Jesus' knowledge and the need for spiritual maturity to grasp all truths.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a big puzzle with lots of pieces. Sometimes, your parents might give you only some pieces because you're just learning how to put puzzles together. They'll wait until you get better at it before giving you more complex parts. Jesus is like that parent, waiting for his friends to grow spiritually before teaching them more.
Historical Background
The Gospel of John was written around the end of the first century AD by the Apostle John, one of Jesus' closest disciples. This verse comes from a conversation between Jesus and his followers just before he was crucified. The audience were primarily Jewish believers who had accepted Jesus as the Messiah.
Living It Out Today
Consider when you're trying to explain something complicated to someone younger or less experienced in that area. You might simplify your explanation because they can't grasp all of it yet. Similarly, we should be patient with those learning about faith and understand their process of spiritual growth.
