Genesis 26:22
Amharic Bible (መጽሐፍ ቅዱስ (የብሉይና የሐዲስ ኪዳን መጻሕፍት))
What Does This Mean?
This verse describes how Isaac moved to a new place and dug a well without any conflict. He named it Rehoboth, meaning 'room', because he felt that God had given them space and opportunity to prosper in the land.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a lemonade stand, and you find a new spot to set it up where no one argues with you about it. You're so happy that you decide to call this new spot 'Wide Open Space' because you feel like you have plenty of room to grow and sell lots of lemonade. That's what Isaac did with his well.
Historical Background
The book of Genesis was written by Moses around 1446-1406 BC. It was written for the Israelites to understand their heritage and the promises of God. The cultural setting is post-patriarchal era where conflicts over wells were common.
Living It Out Today
In modern times, this verse can be applied to situations where we face conflicts or lack of resources. Like Isaac, we can move on, find new opportunities, and trust that God will provide the room we need to thrive. For example, if a business partnership fails, it can be a sign to start fresh and trust in new beginnings.
