1 Kings 7:39
Amharic Bible (መጽሐፍ ቅዱስ (የብሉይና የሐዲስ ኪዳን መጻሕፍት))
What Does This Mean?
This verse describes how King Solomon placed five bases on each side of the temple for the large water basin called the sea. The basin was positioned on the right side of the temple, facing east towards the south. This helps us understand the layout of the temple and its fixtures.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a big fish tank in your room. Now, think of the temple as a giant room, and the fish tank is like a huge water basin called the sea. The verse is telling us where they placed this giant fish tank and the stands that held it, so everyone could see it easily.
Historical Background
The Book of 1 Kings was written by multiple authors, likely including prophets like Jeremiah, around 560 BCE. It was written for the Israelites living in the Babylonian exile to remind them of their history and the importance of their temple and its construction.
Living It Out Today
Just as the sea was positioned for all to see, we can think about how we present ourselves and our actions in a way that is visible and meaningful to others. It’s about making our values and beliefs clear in our daily lives.
