1 Chronicles 28:8
Amharic Bible (መጽሐፍ ቅዱስ (የብሉይና የሐዲስ ኪዳን መጻሕፍት))
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, King David is speaking to the people of Israel, telling them to follow all of God's commandments. He wants them to obey God so that they can keep the good land and pass it on to their children forever.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a beautiful garden, and your parents tell you to take care of it by watering the plants and pulling out weeds. If you do a good job, you can enjoy the garden now, and when you grow up, you can give it to your kids to enjoy too. That's what King David is saying about obeying God's rules.
Historical Background
1 Chronicles was written by an unknown author, possibly a priest or a scribe, after the Babylonian exile, around the 4th century BCE. The audience was the returned exiles in Jerusalem, and the cultural setting was one of rebuilding and restoration.
Living It Out Today
Consider how you manage your work or family responsibilities. If you stay committed to doing your best, you can ensure that the work you start will benefit those who come after you, just as King David wanted for the land of Israel.
