Mark 9:13
Amharic Tigrinya 2011
What Does This Mean?
Jesus is speaking and says that Elijah has come as a prophet, but people treated him badly just like the scriptures predicted. Jesus is explaining how prophecies about Elijah were fulfilled.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a friend who was supposed to bring something special to your party. But instead of bringing it, they got into trouble because some other kids weren't nice to them. That's kind of what happened with Elijah; he came as expected, but people treated him badly.
Historical Background
Mark wrote this Gospel around 60-70 AD for a Gentile audience. The cultural setting was one where Jewish prophecies and beliefs were being interpreted in the light of Jesus' teachings and ministry.
Living It Out Today
When we face challenges, remember that sometimes our good intentions can be misunderstood or mistreated by others. Like Elijah, holding to your purpose even when facing opposition is crucial.
