John 8:47
Amharic Tigrinya 2011
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from John's Gospel, Jesus says that those who are truly followers of God will listen to what God has to say. He tells his listeners that they don't hear these words because they aren't really followers of God.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a special friend who speaks in a secret language only true friends can understand. If someone doesn’t understand the secrets, it’s like they’re not really your true friend yet. Jesus is saying something similar about knowing God’s messages.
Historical Background
The Gospel of John was written by John, one of Jesus' disciples, around 90-100 AD. It reflects a community facing increasing conflict with Jewish authorities and emphasizes the distinction between those who believe in Jesus as the Messiah and those who do not.
Living It Out Today
Consider how you respond to advice from wise mentors or spiritual teachings. Do you listen openly because you value their wisdom, or do you dismiss it out of habit? Reflect on whether your openness might be a sign of deeper alignment with divine guidance.
