Deuteronomy 22:9
Amharic Tigrinya 2011
What Does This Mean?
This verse says that you should not mix different types of seeds in your vineyard, to keep the fruit from being mixed up and losing its purity. God is speaking to the Israelites, telling them to keep their crops pure.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a special garden where you grow grapes. God is saying, 'Don't mix other plants in with your grapes, or your grapes might not taste as yummy and special as they should!'
Historical Background
Deuteronomy was written by Moses around 1200-1000 BCE. He was addressing the Israelites before they entered the Promised Land, giving them God's laws to follow. This agricultural law was part of a larger set of instructions meant to keep their crops pure and their land blessed.
Living It Out Today
Today, this can be seen as a metaphor for keeping our goals and values clear and focused. Mixing too many different priorities can make our efforts less effective, like mixing different seeds can harm the quality of the crops.
