Matthew 9:33
Amharic (Tigrigna: Contemporary Tigrinya Bible 2024)
What Does This Mean?
This verse from Matthew says that after a demon was cast out of someone who couldn't speak, they were able to talk again. The people watching were amazed and said nothing like this had ever been seen in Israel before.
Explained for Children
Imagine if you couldn’t talk for a long time because an invisible bully was inside you. Then one day, a helper comes and makes the bully go away, and suddenly you can speak! Everyone around you is so surprised they say it's never happened like this before in their country.
Historical Background
Matthew wrote his gospel to show that Jesus fulfilled Old Testament prophecies and demonstrated His power through miracles. This event likely occurred during Jesus' ministry when He was traveling throughout Galilee, and the audience would have been Jews familiar with their history and prophets.
Living It Out Today
Today, we can see this as a reminder of God's power to deliver us from spiritual bondage. For example, if someone is struggling with an addiction or bad habit, they might feel helpless until they seek help through faith and receive freedom.
