John 17:23
Amharic Tigrinya (መፅሓፍ ቅዱስ) No Year
What Does This Mean?
Jesus is praying that God's people would be united in Him just as He and the Father are one, so the world can see how much God loves them through Jesus. This unity shows the world that Jesus came from God.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a really special toy that only your best friend gave to you. Now imagine all of your friends playing with this toy together. That’s what Jesus wants - for everyone to share in his love and friendship, just like how he shares it with God. This way, the world can see how much God loves us through Jesus.
Historical Background
John 17 is part of Jesus' farewell discourse before His crucifixion, where He prays for His disciples and future believers. John, one of Jesus’ closest followers, records this prayer around 90 AD, addressing both the early church and all Christians to come.
Living It Out Today
In today's world, we can apply this by seeking to build unity within our communities or workplaces. For example, when a team member feels left out, reaching out and including them in activities can reflect Jesus' prayer for unity and love among His followers.
