John 6:44
Amharic New Standard Translation (አማርኛ አዲሱ መደበኛ ትርጉም) 2005
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from John's Gospel, Jesus is speaking and says that no one can come to him unless the Father who sent him draws them first. He also promises to raise up those drawn by the Father on the last day.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're playing hide-and-seek in a big park. You can't find your friend hiding if they don’t want to be found, right? But Jesus says that God is like the one who helps you find your friend when it's time for them to come out of hiding.
Historical Background
The Gospel of John was written by the disciple John around 90-100 AD. It aims at a primarily Christian audience but also seeks to attract new believers. The cultural setting reflects Hellenistic Jewish and early Christian communities.
Living It Out Today
Consider a person struggling with faith or unsure about their path in life. This verse can remind them that God has a unique plan for each individual, and if they feel drawn towards Christ, it's because of the Father's initiative.
