Exodus 3:15
Amharic New Standard Translation (አማርኛ አዲሱ መደበኛ ትርጉም) 2005
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, God tells Moses to tell the Israelites that He is the God of their ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and that He has sent Moses to them. God also says that this name, 'the LORD,' is His name forever and will be remembered by all generations.
Explained for Children
Imagine your grandpa tells you that he's been watching over your family for a very long time, just like how he watches over your parents and now over you. He's saying, 'I've always been here, and I always will be here.' That's what God is telling the Israelites about Himself, that He has always been with them and will always be with them.
Historical Background
This verse is part of the Book of Exodus, written by Moses around 1446-1406 BCE. It's directed to the Israelites, who were enslaved in Egypt at the time. The cultural setting is one of oppression and the need for divine intervention, which God promises through Moses.
Living It Out Today
Imagine you are going through a tough time, like losing a job or having health issues. This verse reminds you that just like God was with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, He is also with you, and He will always be there for you, no matter what.
