Luke 6:17
Amharic Gamo (ጋሞ ማጻፋ)
What Does This Mean?
Jesus came down with his disciples and a large crowd of people from different places to listen to him teach and seek healing for their illnesses. The verse does not have direct speech but describes the scene where Jesus is surrounded by many eager listeners.
Explained for Children
Imagine if your favorite teacher brought all her students, plus lots more kids who heard about how great she was, to a big field to learn new things. Everyone came from far away just to see her and get help with their problems. That's what Jesus did here!
Historical Background
Luke wrote this Gospel around 60-85 AD for Gentile Christians to understand the life of Jesus. The audience was familiar with the Jewish customs but also had a need to understand how Jesus' ministry included people beyond Jerusalem.
Living It Out Today
Just like the crowd that came from all over to hear Jesus, we can choose to gather and learn from God's word today in our communities or through online resources, seeking wisdom and healing for ourselves and others.
