Isaiah 5:9
Amharic Gamo (ጋሞ ማጻፋ)
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, God, through the prophet Isaiah, says that many large and beautiful houses will stand empty because their owners will be gone. This is a warning about the consequences of greed and injustice.
Explained for Children
Imagine if you had a big, fancy house, but one day you had to leave it, and it became empty. God is saying that this will happen to many big, fancy houses because the people who were greedy and unfair will face the consequences of their actions.
Historical Background
This verse is from the Book of Isaiah, written around 700 BC by the prophet Isaiah. He wrote to the people of Judah, warning them about the consequences of their sinful actions, especially greed and injustice.
Living It Out Today
Today, this verse can remind us to be careful about becoming too focused on material wealth. If we let greed control our actions, we might lose the very things we value most. For instance, an investment banker might lose everything due to unethical financial practices.
