Numbers 11:20
Amharic Catholic Version (መጽሐፍ ቅዱስ - (ካቶሊካዊ እትም - ኤማሁስ)) No Year
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from Numbers, God is speaking to the Israelites, warning them that they will have to eat meat for a month until they are sick of it because they have complained about not having enough variety in their diet and have rejected God's presence among them.
Explained for Children
Imagine you had to eat your favorite food, like pizza, for an entire month, and you'd get so much of it that you wouldn't want to eat it anymore. That's what God is saying will happen to the Israelites because they were not happy with what they had and complained a lot.
Historical Background
Numbers 11:20 was written by Moses around 1446-1406 BCE, during the Israelites' journey from Egypt to the Promised Land. The Israelites are complaining about their daily food, and God is warning them of the consequences of their complaints.
Living It Out Today
This verse can remind us to be grateful for what we have and not to complain excessively. For example, if we are always wishing for a different job or a different lifestyle, we might miss out on appreciating what we already have, leading to dissatisfaction.
