Matthew 12:22
Amharic Catholic Version (መጽሐፍ ቅዱስ - (ካቶሊካዊ እትም - ኤማሁስ)) No Year
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, Jesus heals a man who was possessed by an evil spirit and could not see or speak. The healing is so complete that the man can now both see and talk. This shows Jesus' power over evil spirits and his ability to heal.
Explained for Children
Imagine if someone couldn’t see or talk because of something bad inside them, like a really mean bully in their head. But then, a super nice superhero comes along and helps get rid of the bully, so now they can see clearly and speak up loud and clear! That's what Jesus did here.
Historical Background
Matthew wrote this gospel around AD 80-90 for Jewish Christians to show that Jesus is the Messiah promised in the Old Testament. The audience would have been familiar with stories of exorcisms and healings as miracles performed by holy people.
Living It Out Today
Today, when we face challenges or feel overwhelmed by negative influences, this story reminds us that Jesus has the power to help us overcome them. For instance, if someone is struggling with addiction or negative thoughts, they can seek God's healing power in their life.
