Amharic Catholic Version (መጽሐፍ ቅዱስ - (ካቶሊካዊ እትም - ኤማሁስ)) No Year
What Does This Mean?
God warns the Israelites not to make agreements with the people already living in Canaan. He warns that these people might lead the Israelites to worship their false gods, and if the Israelites eat their sacrifices, they will be disobeying God.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a new friend who likes to play games you don't like. God is telling the Israelites to be careful, because if they start playing those games, they might forget about the fun games they play with God.
Historical Background
Moses wrote this part of the Bible while the Israelites were preparing to enter the Promised Land. God warned them about the dangers of mixing their faith with the practices of the Canaanites, who worshipped idols.
Living It Out Today
Today, we should be cautious about forming relationships that might lead us to compromise our faith. For example, if a colleague invites you to participate in a ritual that goes against your beliefs, it's important to say no.
