Exodus 16:3
Amharic Catholic Version (መጽሐፍ ቅዱስ - (ካቶሊካዊ እትም - ኤማሁስ)) No Year
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, the Israelites complain to Moses and Aaron about their current situation, wishing they had stayed in Egypt where they had plenty of food. They feel that Moses and Aaron have led them into the wilderness to starve. This shows their dissatisfaction and lack of trust in God’s provision.
Explained for Children
Imagine you had a yummy lunch every day at home, and then suddenly you were asked to go on a long trip where the food wasn't as tasty. You might feel upset and wish you were back home where the food was better. That's how the Israelites felt when they left Egypt and didn't have the same kind of food they were used to.
Historical Background
Exodus 16 was written by Moses around 1446 B.C. The audience is the Israelites who had just been freed from slavery in Egypt. The Israelites were used to having ample food in Egypt and now faced uncertainty in the wilderness, which caused them to complain.
Living It Out Today
Imagine moving to a new city where you don't know anyone and the food at your new school cafeteria isn't as good as the food at home. This verse reminds us that we should trust God even when we face difficult situations and when things aren't as comfortable as we're used to.
