Judges 6:39
Amharic 2000 (የአማርኛ መጽሐፍ ቅዱስ (ሰማንያ አሃዱ))
What Does This Mean?
Gideon is asking God for one more sign using a fleece of wool. He wants to see if the fleece will be dry while the ground around it is wet with dew. This helps him know if God is really on his side.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a special blanket and you want to know if your friend really wants to play with you. So you ask them to make your blanket dry while all the grass around it gets wet. Gideon is doing something like that with God, asking for a special sign.
Historical Background
The book of Judges was compiled from ancient Israelite oral and written traditions. This part of the story takes place during the period of the Judges, where Gideon is seeking assurance from God before leading the Israelites against the Midianites.
Living It Out Today
Sometimes, we might need extra reassurance before taking a big step, like starting a new job or moving to a new city. Gideon's story shows that it's okay to ask for signs or confirmation, but we should also be ready to trust and act on what we've already learned.
