Isaiah 10:24
Afrikaans 1933/1953
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, God is speaking to the people of Israel, telling them not to be afraid of the Assyrians, who are a powerful enemy. God warns that the Assyrians will attack, but the suffering will be like the way Egypt once afflicted them.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're playing with your friends and a big bully comes to take your toys. God is like a parent telling you not to be scared of the bully, even though the bully might take some of your toys, like when mean kids took your toys before.
Historical Background
Isaiah wrote this around 700 BC, during a time when the Assyrians were a powerful empire threatening Judah. The people of Judah were worried about the Assyrians, but God reassured them that even though they would suffer, He would still be with them.
Living It Out Today
Today, this verse can be applied to situations where someone feels threatened by powerful forces in their life. It reminds us that God is with us even in difficult times and that we should not be afraid, trusting in His protection and guidance.
