Deuteronomy 4:36
Afrikaans Bible (ABA) 2007 (Bybel vir almal)
What Does This Mean?
This verse from Deuteronomy says that God spoke to the people from heaven to instruct them. He showed them a great fire on earth and the people heard His words coming from the middle of the fire. Moses is speaking here, reminding the Israelites of this incredible moment.
Explained for Children
Imagine if your mom or dad talked to you from way up in the sky, teaching you important things, and then showed you a big, bright fire. That's what happened here. God wanted the people to remember His voice from the middle of the fire.
Historical Background
This verse is part of Moses' speech to the Israelites just before they enter the Promised Land. It was written around 1250 BC, and the audience was the Israelites who had been wandering in the wilderness. This event took place during their journey and was meant to reinforce their faith.
Living It Out Today
In modern times, this verse can remind us to listen to God's voice in our lives, perhaps through His Word or through others. For example, when facing a difficult decision, take time to listen for God's guidance, just as the Israelites listened for His instructions from the fire.
