Տիրոջ տոնը կատարեցին Հովսիայի թագավորության տասնութերորդ տարում։ Հովսիա արքան Հուդայի երկրում և Երուսաղեմում գտնվող վհուկներին, գուշակներին, մոգերին, կախարդներին և կուռքերին վերացրեց ու հրով այրեց, որպեսզի հաստատի Օրենքի այն խոսքերը, որ գրված էին Քեղկիա քահանայի՝ Տիրոջ տանը գտած գրքում։ Հովսիայի նմանը չէր եղել նրանից առաջ, որ ըստ Մովսեսի բոլոր օրենքների՝ իր ամբողջ սրտով, իր ամբողջ հոգով և իր ամբողջ զորությամբ դառնար դեպի Տերը՝ Աստված։ Նրանից հետո էլ նրա նմանը չհայտնվեց։ Սակայն Տերը չհանդարտվեց իր խիստ մեծ բարկությունից, որով բարկացել էր Հուդայի վրա Մանասեի բորբոքած բարկության պատճառով։ Տերն ասաց. «Ես Հուդան էլ եմ մերժելու իմ ներկայությունից, ինչպես մերժել եմ Իսրայելը, և վանելու եմ Երուսաղեմը՝ այն քաղաքը, որ ընտրել էի, և այն տունը, որի համար ասել էի. “Իմ անունը պետք է այնտեղ լինի”»։
