Numbers 13:31
Armenian Eastern Bible 1994
What Does This Mean?
The men who went to explore the land of Canaan told Moses and the people that they could not fight the people living there because the Canaanites were too strong. The men who spoke were the spies who had been sent to scout the land.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're on a camping trip and your team goes to explore a big, scary forest. When they come back, they say, 'We can't go in there because it's too scary and the monsters are too big!' That's what these men said about the land they were sent to check out.
Historical Background
This verse is from the Book of Numbers, written by Moses around 1400 BC. It was written for the Israelites who were wandering in the wilderness after their exodus from Egypt, describing their fears about entering the Promised Land.
Living It Out Today
Today, we might face situations where we feel overwhelmed by challenges, like starting a new job or moving to a new city. Just like the spies, we might doubt our ability to succeed, but God can help us overcome our fears.
