Mark 14:3
Armenian Eastern Bible 1994
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from Mark's Gospel, Jesus is in Bethany at Simon the leper’s house when a woman comes with an expensive perfume. She breaks her alabaster box and pours it over Jesus' head. This act shows deep devotion to Jesus.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have your favorite toy, something very special that you never want to break or share. Now, picture giving this toy away just because someone is really important to you. That's what the woman did with her perfume for Jesus!
Historical Background
Mark wrote his Gospel in the late first century AD, likely for a community of early Christians facing persecution. The story of the anointing takes place during Passover week when Jerusalem was filled with pilgrims and religious fervor.
Living It Out Today
Think about a time when you wanted to show someone how much they mean to you by giving them something very special. This woman used her most precious possession to honor Jesus, showing us what it means to truly value others.
