Judges 16:5
Armenian Eastern Bible 1994
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, the Philistine leaders visit Delilah and ask her to find out the source of Samson's strength. They want to bind him and weaken him, promising her a large amount of money if she succeeds.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a friend who is really strong, and some other kids want to know how he gets his strength. They ask your friend's mom to find out, and promise to give her lots of candy if she helps them. That's kind of like what's happening here, but with grown-ups.
Historical Background
The Book of Judges was likely written by various authors over time, with the final form possibly completed by the time of King David. It was written for the Israelites, providing a historical account of their judges and leaders, highlighting the cultural and political context of the period.
Living It Out Today
This verse can remind us of the dangers of being used for someone else's selfish purposes. In today's world, it might be like a friend trying to trick you to learn your password, promising to give you something in return.
