John 7:34
Armenian Eastern Bible 1994
What Does This Mean?
This verse is Jesus speaking to the Jews who do not believe in him. He says that they will search for him but won't find him, and wherever he goes, they cannot follow.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're playing hide-and-seek with your friend. Your friend tells you that when it's time to find them, they'll be somewhere you can't reach, like on top of a treehouse or inside another kid's house where you’re not allowed to go.
Historical Background
John wrote this Gospel around the end of the first century AD for the early Christian community. The audience included both Jewish and Gentile believers. This verse reflects Jesus' foreknowledge of his departure from earth after his crucifixion and resurrection, a concept deeply rooted in ancient eschatological beliefs.
Living It Out Today
In modern life, this can be applied to someone who refuses to accept or understand the value of faith until it is too late. For example, an individual might reject the advice of a mentor only to later seek that guidance but find the mentor unavailable due to retirement or relocation.
