Explained for Children
Imagine you tell your friend that you're going to do something surprising at their birthday party tomorrow. When the surprise actually happens, your friend knows it was planned all along, and they trust you even more because of it. That's kind of like what Jesus is doing here with his friends.
Historical Background
The Gospel of John was written around 90-100 AD by an unknown author traditionally identified as John the Apostle. The text reflects the concerns and experiences of a community facing challenges in their faith, and it emphasizes the divinity and mission of Jesus Christ.
Living It Out Today
Consider a situation where you predict something important about your future career or relationship. When that prediction comes true, others might see your insight and grow to trust you more. This verse encourages us to trust God's promises and recognize them when they come true.
