Matthew 24:9
armenian-2019
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from Matthew, Jesus is warning his followers that they will face persecution and hatred for their faith in him. He says people will hurt them, even kill them, because of their devotion to him.
Explained for Children
Imagine if you had a really cool toy, but everyone else thought it was silly and wanted to take it away or break it just because it's different. Jesus is saying his followers might face something like that, where people dislike them for loving him.
Historical Background
Matthew was written by one of Jesus' disciples around AD 80-90, aimed at a Jewish-Christian audience in the Roman Empire. This passage reflects the early church facing opposition and persecution for their beliefs.
Living It Out Today
Today, followers of Christ might experience bullying or unfair treatment in schools or workplaces because they stand up for their faith values. Just as Jesus promised support to his original disciples, he offers strength and comfort to believers today who face such challenges.
